What is Candle Care?

 Candle Care

I promise this is not as scary as it sounds. If I am 100% honest I did not know most of this until I started making candles myself. What is important to remember is on every one of my candles is a warning label for you to refer to that provides all the instructions I will explain to you here.

Avoid Excessive Burn Time.

This one is straight forward but everyone at some has let their candle burn for longer than recommended. Safety standard is a burn time no longer than 4 hours. Within these 4 hours your candle has been tested for tunneling, excessive flames, and many other concerns.

Trimming Wicks

Another important part of candle care is trimming the wick. This can be done with wick trimmers, nail clippers, scissors and other tools. Make sure not to trim the wick too short because trimming below a 1/4in can cause tunneling in candle and lead to a shortened experience. Maintaining your wick and not allowing buildup to grow is best for you and the longevity of your candle. A wick left to its own devices can be the cause behind large flames, soot and a short lived candle.

Other Care Tips

Always make sure you are placing a candle in a safe place. If any children, pets, flammable objects  or drafts are able to reach a candle while it is in use could become dangerous. Rules can be intimidating but these are to insure you have the best experience with the candles making your house smell like a home.
